Shoulder to Shoulder

Posted by Karim Shelton on Friday, September 14, 2012, In : Local News
Lezlie Ward, former leader of the Evansville Dances, has relocated to Columbus, Indiana. Things are being stirred up there in the community and we are excited for the possibilities that lay ahead for her and others there. Here is a story from Republic Newspaper, September 8, 2012 out of Columbus. Go LEZLIE!!!

When human nature tells us to get even, David Carlson and the Interfaith Forum of Columbus challenge us instead to get closer.

Carlson and members of the forum are ...

Newspaper Coverage

Posted by Karim Shelton on Monday, July 30, 2012, In : Local News
The Evansville Courier and Press recently interviewed several from our local group and a photographer caught a few good (and bad) images! However, the bad images keep us humble and isn't always a bad thing.

The story, written by Sara Anne Corrigan, was excellently written and provided great exposure to the group. Here is the article (minus a few images)! You may also find it at the Evansville Courier and Press.

Death in Family

Posted by Erich Shelton on Saturday, September 3, 2011, In : Local News
For those in the Evansville group, many know and love Lance (Yaqin) Sandleben who is a mentor to the dance leaders here and a very dear friend. We have all benefited from his trips back to Evansville from Prescott Arizona where he presently resides. Lance's father passed away this past Thursday and we send our heartfelt thoughts of love and peace during this transitional period of the loss of his father. We ask that each of you send out your prayers to he and his family, in particular his mot...

October Time Change

Posted by Erich Shelton on Monday, August 15, 2011, In : Local News
Starting October 30, the Evansville Dances of Universal Peace will be meeting at an earlier time. Rather than our normal time of 6–8 on the last Sunday of the month, we shall be meeting from 3–5 in the afternoon. This change is a result of feedback we received from a majority of persons on our mailing list. This new schedule will continue indefinitely and if there are any changes to it, you will be notified via e-mail or it will be mentioned here on the website. If you are not on our mail...

New Dances on Website

Posted by Erich Shelton on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, In : Local News
Nothing is ever finished, but I thought I would let you know we have recently updated our DANCES with accompanying chords and dance instructions. There are still a few missing gaps so if anybody out there has any information regarding these, we will very much appreciate letting us know.

Meanwhile, they are there for your convenience. As you may have noted, these pages are password protected. It isn't that we have anything to hide, but feel that it is important that you have a genuine need to r...

How Do You Spell PEACE?

Posted by Erich Shelton on Saturday, August 6, 2011, In : Local News
It isn't often that I have the free time to just play and illustrate, especially working and attending graduate classes. However, during this short recess before the autumn term starts again I decided to brainstorm on a few t-shirt designs and am posting one here. I have had several people encourage me in this direction and thought perhaps some of you may enjoy wearing this; especially for those who participate in the Dances of Universal Peace. You will notice a wide range of words in various...

Aye, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai, lai. We are ALIVE!

Posted by Erich Shelton on Saturday, August 14, 2010, In : Local News
If you have got this far you will already have realised we have a new website. This isn't really news now but I couldn't stand seeing a blank page! However…this brings me to a point which I need your help on (especially for you local dance members). We would really like the website to be a place of sharing news, encouragement, discussions, calendar events, workshops, photos, etc.

If you have any news which we would all value from knowing or perhaps have heard of an upcoming event, PLEASE let...
